Elevator? Yes, Elevator. Good? Yes Good. Why? Because.
This awesome app has been brought to you by the Weisi4u-team. Well, one person-team. How do we call that?
Navigate through this readme!
Introduction
I bet you have never seen an app like this before. SO pointless. So stupid. So... Wait! It might not be!
Join the elevator in any form you like!
What do I mean by that?
Well, I will explain later on.
First, let me tell you, how this thing actually came to mind.
It was a night. A dark, cold, night, with scary sound effects coming through the window... Well, If you could explain silence as scary... The only thing that was still alive was me. Me, my computer and some other people over there on the
Teamtalk
Server. Yes, a teamtalk server. I am not getting payed for this add by the way. Well, I was so bored that I asked that
Person
To tell me an idea on what to program. We came up with the most weird ideas you could ever think of. An elevator! But, this is not just any elevator.
Enough of the story, let's go. Well, with the description.
First run
When you first start the application, however you wish to start it, it will prompt you to choose a session.
Remember me saying that you could join the elevator any way you want? here's the secret.
In the elevator Folder, usually being c:\program files\elevator, are some pre-defined folders. Those, are the sessions. You just type the name of the folder into that edit box, and it will use that session, if it is configured properly.
If you look into those, you see... Usual license: "Copyrighted!", sounds. Or, maybe not? No, not copyrighted. Well, screw copyrighting. You see sounds. IN the Ogg-format. Those are the sounds of that session of the Elevator. Read on to get to know how to create your own.
Once you have chosen your session, it will load. Once it is loaded, you hear the elevator door opening, and the greeting of that session. From this point, well, from the point you entered a session, the sounds will Varry from which session you have chosen. You hear a background sound meaning the elevator is open, but it is idle, and no floor is visible. From here, it is your achevement to find out how to use it. Or, how to operate it. I am not htat mean though. I will give you a list of the hot keys.
Keyboard Short cuts
- 1 through 0 on the home row = Move to that floor
- F1 = Open and close door
- F2 = Fan on
- F3 = Fan off
- F4 = Turn ambient music on and off
- F5 = Emergency break
- F12 = Speak floor switch
All you can do from here, is explore and try it out. You should have operated a real elevator at least once in your life, So, you should know.
Create your own session
The standard elevator sounds are boring! You might think?
I don't hope so, imho. But if they are, why not go and create yourself one?
Just create a folder in the Elevator folder. Call it whatever you want. Copy the sounds of one of the original sessions in there, replace, and you are ready to go!
Last words
Well, that is really all you have to know. Fact is, it is so boring, that it is fun!
Oh yeah, credits.
- Peter mahach, for some sound editing and mods for the elevator.
- Erion, for the Sound library
